Artists often wonder where they can find financial support and which organizations provide funding for entrepreneurs to help launch their projects and as mythic as they seem, they do indeed exist. In the brand new year make sure you’ve reflected and determined the new heights you are aspiring to, because one major part of your new business plan is the artist grants and fellowships for artists, as making art can be an unpredictable living.
Of course, the work that goes into applying for these opportunities more than you might expect, but the boost to your cultural capital can be enough to spark intrigue and value, so in order to help make those fantasies come true, we searched many venture pitches and opportunities which can support the enterprising go-getters. To help you get started, we’ve rounded up some details about deadlines, so be sure to learn how to make sure your professional documents are ready for hunting the artist grants. Some of the most prestigious are the Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant and the Larry Aldrich Foundation Award, but they are available by nomination only.

Making art can be expensive as well and securing grants can provide the stability you need, but be aware that some grants have residential requirements.
Aaron Siskind Foundation, United States
Open to photographers, it is eligible to US citizens, offering several grants of up to $5000 annually, which must be used to support the artist’s creative endeavors. The award was established to encourage contemporary artists and they are offering a limited number of Fellowship grants for artists working in photo-based art, determined by a panel of distinguished guest judges on the basis of accomplishment to date, seeking to support photographers who are professionally active in the field.
Creative Capital, across the country
Artists in any discipline, such as painting, works on paper or public can apply for the amount $50,000, but the letter of inquiry must be submitted in due time.
LEAP Award Lydon Emerging Artist Program
The Society for Contemporary Craft’s gift adds up to $1,000 and is intended to be used towards a new product line for the duration of one year for emerging artists in contemporary craft (wood, jewelry, found materials, fiber etc.), provided they respect the 2019 deadline, and only one artist will get chosen for a cash prize.
Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundation, no geographical restrictions
